Research
Scientific research has always been an integral part of the institutional activities of Fondazione ANT, with the primary objective of improving the quality of life of patients under its care.
The ANT Research Department adopts a multidisciplinary approach, conducting clinical studies and innovative projects to address the needs of patients and their families, while also supporting and coordinating the multidisciplinary teams involved in home care.
Current research projects focus on a range of areas within palliative care and oncology, including symptom management, psycho-oncology, the organisation of home care, and caregiver support. Among the most significant studies are those evaluating the use of remote monitoring as a complement to in-person visits by physicians, nurses and psychologists; the application of virtual reality to relieve psychological and physical symptoms; and the use of artificial intelligence to optimise palliative care planning.
ANT does not conduct laboratory testing and does not carry out animal testing, either directly or through third parties.
Clinical Studies
Objectives
Significant advances in oncology over the last few decades have led to a profound transformation in the clinical course of many forms of cancer.
Thanks to new diagnostic techniques, improvements in surgical procedures, and advances in experimental medical oncology, there has been an increase in cure rates and a significant extension in the survival of patients with cancer.
As a result, there is a growing need to complement disease-directed treatments with interventions that address the patient holistically.
Within this framework, the strategic objectives pursued by Fondazione ANT are:
- to ensure the highest standards of care currently available
- to identify new therapeutic strategies for the benefit of patients
- to assess the physical and psychological burden experienced by patients at every stage of cancer, in order to improve quality of life
- to develop advanced and personalised care pathways tailored to the needs of each individual
