Virtual Reality

  • USE OF VIRTUAL REALITY FOR THE RELIEF OF PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS IN PATIENTS WITH ADVANCED CANCER A non-profit, single-centre, randomised controlled exploratory interventional study without pharmacological intervention. The study aims to evaluate the effects of virtual reality (VR) on psychological and physical symptoms (pain, anxiety, depression, nausea, fatigue, dyspnoea, etc.) in patients with advanced cancer receiving care at home. VR content is delivered using the Lenovo Mirage Solo headset, paired with a Daydream wireless motion controller, which is provided to the patient for use at home over a four-day period. Outcomes are measured using validated assessment scales and through the recording of psychophysiological activation parameters (skin conductance and heart rate) using a wearable electronic medical device (Empatica E4; CE Cert. no. 1876/MDD).
